Beverage & dairy: the line runs against shelf life — every stop is a loss

Filling, sterilizing and packaging lines run at high speed; one stop risks tons of scrapped product, and CIP washdown is brutal on sensors. Lean front-loading (Huazhiying Management & Technology) lifts efficiency with SMED changeover and OEE loss-factor work; DHMS guards fillers, compressors, fans and conveyors with IP69-rated sensing — and the health records double as food-safety system documentation.

INDUSTRY PAIN

Three costs a beverage plant cannot afford

S

One fault anywhere stops the whole high-speed line

A filler, labeler or packer failure halts everything — scrapped product plus missed orders.

W

Wet cleaning accelerates equipment decay

CIP jets and vapor attack bearings and electrics; ordinary sensors rarely survive the wet zones.

C

Frequent changeovers keep OEE volatile

Many SKUs, short runs — long changeovers and parameter churn blur where the OEE losses really are.

HOW WE SOLVE

Get the maintenance strategy right, and every machine watched

Lean Consulting · Huazhiying

Pull out OEE losses one by one

Compress changeovers with SMED, locate the top stoppage causes with loss-factor analysis, and hold the baseline with operator daily care.

  • SMED rapid changeover: separate & parallelize internal/external work
  • OEE data capture and six-big-loss analysis
  • Operator daily care and cleaning/maintenance standards
  • Changeover parts and tooling organization
DHMS · Smart Equipment O&M

IP69-rated sensing — safe even in the wet zone

IP69 wireless vibration/temperature sensors survive 100 bar / 80 °C washdown across fillers, compressors, fans and conveyors — 5 years maintenance-free.

  • Monitoring at key filler, labeler and packer stations
  • Utilities monitoring: compressors, chillers, fans
  • IP69-rated selection for CIP wet zones
  • Health records and alert logs that support audits
PATH

Start from the top OEE losses — monitoring and lean together

01

OEE loss diagnosis

Pull stoppage data, separate breakdowns from changeovers and speed losses, rank causes.

02

SMED & standards

Improve changeovers first; establish operator daily-care standards in parallel.

03

Monitor key stations

Fit sensors on main fillers and utilities, build baselines, validate alerts.

04

Records & rollout

Consolidate health records for audits, extend monitoring across the line.

FAQ

Beverage & Dairy: frequently asked

Is installing sensors in hygiene-sensitive areas compliant?

Yes. Sensors mount on non-product-contact faces (bearing housings, motor shells); IP69 fully sealed designs survive CIP washdown with no food-safety risk. Health and alert records also support FSSC/HACCP equipment documentation.

With high speed and frequent changeovers, will monitoring data be noisy?

The system builds per-product/per-station health baselines and learns operating modes, automatically recognizing normal post-changeover states and tuning thresholds to suppress false alerts — exactly what the DHMS "mode learning" capability is for.

Half our pain is slow changeovers — can monitoring fix that?

Changeover speed is a lean (SMED) problem; equipment failures are a PdM problem — which is exactly why this program does both. Start with an OEE loss diagnosis: if stoppages are failure-driven, do monitoring first; if changeover-driven, do SMED first.

What is the payback period?

High-speed filling lines have heavy stoppage costs (scrapped product plus lost capacity); industry experience: 6–18 months. Pilot on the main filler and compressed-air utilities for a solid estimate.
